Overanalysing Ancillary Sword

With reference to Chapter 1 of Ancillary Sword and a discussion about Anaander Mianaai's origins...

... I am increasingly convinced that Anaander Mianaai is in point of fact an AI, rather than being of human origin. It doesn't feel like we'll get direct answers to that, at least not from this first chapter, but I do find myself really wanting to know...

'similarity of background' might just be having operated as a distributed intelligence, but the AI reading is probably just as valid.
